Get Rolling with Essential Oils

 Get Rolling with Essential oils

In this blog post, I’m going to talk about how to dilute your oils or blends in a roller bottle and finding inspiration to make your own blends. Another effective way to use aromatherapy is by topical application to the skin via a roller-bottle on various body parts. For example, if you need it to dull headache pain, it would be at the forehead, temples, and the back of your neck. Before you make a blend for a roller bottle, you need to do a test patch to see if there’s any reaction to it. It’s real simple to do. Just grab a single oil and add a drop to it in a bottle, add a couple drops of a carrier oil, and then roll it on your inner elbow. Cover it with gauze or a cotton ball with a band-aid for 24 hours. If you don’t see any reaction, you’re good to go to start rolling with blends.

The rule of thumb for dilution is that it should be less than five percent for anyone. When you dilute your  essential oil into a carrier oil, it would protect your skin from irritation. At Rocky Mountain Oils, you can buy a carrier oil variety kit that features three main oils: Fractioned coconut oil, jojoba oil, and almond oil.  You can find carrier oils at your pantry home like olive oil (extra virgin and regular), sesame oil, peanut oil, and so on, if you want to get started too.

Here’s a simple dilution guideline to keep in mind for everyday use:  For infants from 6-24 months, its at 0.5%, (one drop of essential oil to two teaspoons of your chosen carrier oil.) For the elderly and for facial application, it’s at 1% (three drops to 3 teaspoons of your carrier oil). The maximum daily recommendation for everyone else is at 2% (6 drops to 2 teaspoons of your carrier oil). And for short term use, it’s at 5% (15 drops to 2 teaspoons on carrier oil.)

In a blending bottle, add a few your favorite oil or blend with a dropper via the dropper insert.Add 2 teaspoons of your chosen carrier oil and transfer it to your roller bottle. Add the roller-on ball to the cap, press the cap down, and shake the bottle to mix the oils together. Then label it. You can make your own labels when you buy sticker paper or buy your own at Amazon. One sets sells a sticker set even for the caps as well to match, with or without the roller bottles. Now it’s ready for you to take it on the go.

Other than looking at Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration, look to nature. Do you have a favorite memory or a smell from your garden? A trip to the beach? Family vacation or trip? What about a favorite scent from candles, soaps, air and car fresheners, dishwasher and laundry detergent soap, all-purpose or multi-purpose cleaners? Check out the back of the ottle’s label of natural clean detergents like from Method, Mrs. Meyers, Target’s Everclear, Seventh Generation, and so on. Read in the ingredients. You can duplicate the same smell without using chemical for a fresher scent.

  1. Such a beautiful blog thanks for shareing. Lavender essential oil, derived from lavender flowers, is renowned for its versatile benefits. With a pleasant, calming aroma, it is widely used in aromatherapy to alleviate stress and promote relaxation. Its natural antibacterial properties make it a popular choice for skincare and minor wound care. Additionally, lavender oil is celebrated for its sleep-inducing qualities, making it a staple in holistic wellness practices. Last month, I have purchased High-Organic Essential Oils from Byron Bay Love Oils at an affordable price. I think it will be best for you.
